If you are looking for different ways to enhance your home, one thing you should consider is a Juliet Balcony.

This is a barrier or guarding that is situated on the exterior of full-height French doors, which are installed on the first floor or higher, which do not lead to a balcony.

There are a number of different benefits that are associated with having a Juliet Balcony installed in your home, including the following:

Increase the amount of light that floods into your home

This is one of the major benefits that is associated with having an infinity glass Juliet Balcony installed. This will enable you to let a large quantity of light into your home, without the safety of your business or home being compromised in the process. If you want to create a home that is bright and airy, a Juliet balcony is a worthy addition. You can also open up the space when the warm weather appears and enjoy incredible views from the comfort of your own property.

Increase the levels of safety in your home

Not only can you increase the amount of light that is able to flood into your home, but you will also be able to enhance the safety and security that your home is able to provide as well. This is especially important if you have pets or small children within your home, as large doors or windows could easily present a security risk. Instead, if you decide to get a Juliet balcony installed, you are going to be able to open your windows and doors during the summer months without having to fret about the risk of a potential accident.

Increase the beauty of your home

A final factor to consider is that an infinity glass Juliet balcony can help you to boost the aesthetic appeal of your home. There are plenty of different styles and types of Juliet balconies available each of which offers a unique look that can enhance the beauty and feel of your home.

Steel is the material that is most commonly used, offering an aesthetically pleasing and strong addition to your property. Whether you have an old period home or you have a more modern and contemporary property, you can use a Juliet balcony to add heaps of beauty to your home. Not only will this make your property a pleasure to be in, but it also means that you can improve the value of your home in the process as well its curb appeal.

Heat soaked glass Juliet Sunrock Balconies

Toughened glass is the best material for constructing infinity glass balustrades and Juliet balconies.

However, if inferior glass has been used, some customers experience problems with breakages after installation, occurring months or even years later.

Heat soaked glass offers another great solution to the range of toughened glass used for glass balustrading to ensure it will look its best for years to come. Read on to find out all about heat soaked glass, how it’s made, and its benefits.

What is heat soaked glass?

The majority of toughened glass contains small amounts of Nickel Sulphide, which changes state during the toughening process and cannot revert to their original form when the glass is cooled. Although steps are taken to remove the Nickel Sulphide inclusions, no glass manufacturer can guarantee that they are not present.

In most cases, this isn’t too much of a problem, but sometimes, the Nickel Sulphide eventually returns to its original form and expands in size as it does so. This can lead to cracks and breakages in glass sometimes several months or years later.

Heat soaked glass solves that issue. The toughened glass will be placed in an oven at 295-300 degrees and left for 4 hours. If there are any Nickel Sulphide inclusions, they will expand during this process and cause a breakage. However, if the glass does not break, it indicates it’s safe to use and it’s very unlikely to break at a later date.

What is the benefit of heat soaked glass?

The obvious benefit of heat soaked glass is that it reduces the risk of breakages in the future. In fact, it is estimated that the heat soaking process removes up to 98% of all glass with Nickel Sulphide inclusions, so the chance of breakage is minimal.

Sunrock Balconies are now offering heat soaked glass for Juliet balconies. We can create outdoor living rooms using heat soaked infinity glass as an option designed to your specifications. We also offer a complete end to end service from design to quotation to full installation for both residential and commercial customers. We can also consult with your architect, contractors or tradesmen to get the best results for your balcony project.

We are dedicated to providing the highest quality infinity glass balustrades and Juliet balconies to our customers and having heat soaked glass for Juliet balconies as an option is just one way of demonstrating this.

Juliet balcony systems offer enhanced aesthetics, make installation easy, require almost no maintenance, give the sense of security and, of course, are great value for money.

A Juliet balcony is a very narrow balcony or railing which sits just outside a window or pair of French doors on the upper storey of a building. Available in a variety of sizes, colours and styles, glass and/or stainless steel, the possibilities are endless with a Juliet Balcony, no matter the properties period.

Juliet balconies are becoming an increasingly common feature of many UK properties, both old and new. One of the primary reasons for this is that they can typically be installed without the need for planning permission. In many cases this can remove the need for an architect to be involved, reducing costs. In addition, the balconies can usually be bolted to an existing wall, making them quick, cheap and easy to install.

“Elegant Solutions To
Building Control Regulations”

Whilst a Juliet balcony does not expand the floor space of a property, it can help to change how you use an existing space. By replacing windows with much larger French doors, the room is filled with light, often making it feel larger and more pleasant.

Here at Sunrock Balconies, we offer a wide range of stunning Juliet Balconies that are designed to be fixed across an opening (e.g. patio doors, french windows, bi-fold doors etc). Take a look at some examples below:

This week is all about love. Along with all the Valentine gifts and cards exchanged, it’s a foregone conclusion that the famous meeting of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet at Juliet’s balcony will be quoted. But, the term ‘Juliet balcony’ will also be used in the context of home improvements and we’re certain you will fall in love with them too!

What is a Juliet Balcony?

In a nutshell it’s a shallow balcony or railing which is secured to the external wall and sits just outside a window, pair of French doors or bi-fold doors on an upper storey of a building. When you open the doors wide, the balcony provides a safety barrier to the outside allowing you to enjoy the interior space whilst at the same time allowing the outside in.

Let the light flood in with a Juliet Balcony

Traditional Juliet balconies were made from steel, usually painted black, with upright bars. Installed on the wall outside, it would work as a barrier but have a cage like feeling from both within the room and externally too.

Today, the addition of a Sunrock Infinity Glass Juliet Balcony works well with the trend for open plan living. Whilst this type of balcony does not extend the floor space of a property, it can help change how you use the space. With the replacement of small windows with larger French doors or bifold doors, the room is automatically flooded with light making it feel larger and more pleasant. The air floods in when the doors are opened and you achieve a safe unobstructed view due to the glass balustrade of the Juliet Balcony. Essentially it converts the room into an enclosed balcony, fantastic for warm and sunny days.

Are Juliet Balconies Cost effective?

A Sunrock Infinity Glass Juliet balcony will add a stunning design feature to your property and delivers an elegant solution to fully comply with UK Building Regulations. They are becoming a popular feature on old and new UK properties. The key reason for this is that can usually be installed without the need for planning permission which also negates the need for an architect. It should be pointed out though that all Sunrock Balconies are built to fully comply with Building Regulations.

The use of glass has established itself as a key element of contemporary architecture of buildings.  As a result of new technology and innovation, sustainable products can be produced using glass. It’s these qualities that make it an attractive material to use in construction as well as it’s practicality.

Glass offers the open living that people want today. Being transparent, it offers a two way view giving a sense of space where living and outside areas become one divided only by glass. It is also a more stable and resistant building material which is easy to clean and maintain. Here at Sunrock, we use glass for balustrades and balconies to improve and enhance the style, function and appeal of homes and commercial buildings.

Letting more light into the area below your balcony is another way to create openness too. Glass floors with glass wells integral to the balcony decking is one option, while the other is an entire glass floor made from laminated toughed glass. All glass floors are available in a variety of shades; clear, tinted or privacy etched and all have spot grip pads added as a safety feature.

This beautiful house requires a juliet balcony to conform to building regulations for the upstairs french windows. Prior to the installation the house features in an episode of the Channel 4 program ‘The Restoration Man’.

In addition, the fixing of the Juliet balcony is on to brick work. Therefore Sunrock uses 316 marine grade stainless steel fixing buttons to achieve this. The buttons sit at the side of the glass, which is standard fixing for most glass Juliet balconies.
